山东外事翻译职业学院建校于1999年，在山东省政府以及社会各界的支持下，以鲜明的办学特色，科学的管理模式、优异的教学质量和广阔的毕业生就业通路为社会培养了大批复合型和技能型人才，赢得了社会各界的广泛赞誉。2004年7月，经教育部审核，山东省人民政府批准我校为国家普通高校，自主颁发国家承认学历的大学毕业证书。
      我院现有济南、威海两个校区，占地2000余亩。拥有教学楼、图书楼、教工宿舍、学生公寓、餐厅、医务室等。建有标准教室230个、语音室7处（90座/处）、计算机中心（560座）、多媒体教室6个、电教中心、校园无线语音系统、国际卫星接收系统、形体室、钢琴室、多功能厅。每间教室均能够接受美、日、韩、英等七个国家和地区的外语原版教学节目，最大限度满足学生学习外语的需求。图书馆现有藏书37万册、电子图书100万册。校内建有篮球场、乒乓球场、排球场、足球场、生活服务部、浴室等体育、生活设施。
       山东外事翻译职业学院的办学宗旨是“为真才实学走进来，为驰骋世界走出去”，使学生“学好一个热门专业，精通两门外语，掌握五项现代技能”，打好“中文、英文、计算机、综合素质”四大基础，除正常教学工作外还对他们进行身体、心理、生活、交友、个性、学业、生涯规划、就业、升学、留学等方面辅导，“学生的事马上办”是教职员工的本职和作风。
       学院始终贯彻“教学是生命，管理是基础，后勤是保障，创新教育和素质教育是永恒的座右铭”的办学指导思想，并为学生辅就“国内升本、考研，国内创业（择业），出国就业，出国留学”四条出路。目前我校在国内与山东大学建立了专、本连读直通车，在国外已与瑞典Lulea大学、新加坡义安理工学院等校建立了合作办学关系，并建立了链接世界多所名校的留学超市，为学生们提供免费咨询，免费办理留学服务。
       创新思维的培养是山译教育的又一特色。学校鼓励学生多向思维，勇于打破常规，敢于标新立异，真正成为顺应时代潮流的一流创新型人才（在学校的精心培养下，已有雷子浩等三十多名同学分获一百多项发明专利）。目前，山东省专利部门已免费为我校学生办理专利发明。我校还与北京大学人才研究中心签约，使山译成为该研究中心的“人才能力培养基地”，将在不耽误学生学习专业课程的条件下，实施通用能力方面的培训、测评、专业实践、远程辅导等措施来提升学生能力，并颁发《能力证书》和《测评报告》，支持学生的就业、立业、创业或再升学。
      加大就业指导的工作力度，是我校教学过程的重要环节。为学生提供更多的就业信息、辅导和全方位服务，使我校连续五年毕业生一次性就业率在90%以上，向社会输送了大量合格人才。正像不久前全国人大副委员长韩启德给我院题词指出的那样，我校已经并将持续为社会“培养德智体美全面发展的人才”。
      一所拥有英语、日语、韩语、德语、法语、西班牙语，阿拉伯语、俄语、计算机应用、国际贸易、旅游管理、文秘、物流管理、物业管理、报关与国际货运、法律事务、计算机信息管理、汉语言文学、工商企业管理、会计等二十多个专业，学历层次分属本科、专科和预科的年轻高校正在古老的齐鲁大地上崛起。
                                                        

   Approved by the government of Shandong Province and the Education Ministry of China, Shandong International Institute of Translation (SIIT) was founded in 1999. It is a nationally accredited comprehensive three-year college specializing in teaching foreign languages, computer science, information technology, international commerce and trade, hospitality and tourism. The college provides accessible, affordable, high-quality post-secondary education that prepares students to enter the job market, allows them to transfer to universities, helps them to study and work abroad, and assists them in achieving their professional and personal goals.

   SIIT provides a variety of educational opportunities that support its mission of human resource development. Approximately 20 associate degree, diploma and certificate programs of study are offered. As the first translation college in Shandong Province, the college provides a wide variety of language learning and translation programs in English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Italian, Greek and Esperanto. A strong college transfer program has evolved to allow students the opportunity to take the first two years of a baccalaureate degree and transfer to one of the state's four-year institutions. Ninety-six percent of SIIT graduates are employed or continuing their education within six months of graduation.

   SIIT has two campuses. The old campus is located in Ji’nan, the capital of Shandong Province. With a history of over 2600 years, Ji'nan is considered to be one of the most famous historical and cultural cities in China. The city is also frequently known as "the spring city" because of its profusion of natural springs. Ji’nan campus provides up-to-date facilities including 1 administration building, 4 teaching buildings, 5 students’ dormitory buildings, 3 dinning halls, 1 library building. The school provided 160 well-equipped ordinary classrooms, 3 audio classrooms (90 seats each), 5 multi-media classrooms, 1 computer center (360 seats). The satellite receiver system enables students to watch TV programs in English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, and Italian in each and every classroom. The library holds more than 300,000 books, 40,000 electronic books and journals. Other facilities include a soccer field, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and a recreation area.

   Weihai campus is located on the beautiful Silver Beach of Rushan, a coast city of Shandong Peninsula. With an agreeable climate all the year round, Rushan is a wonderful place to live and study. This new campus is 10 times the size of Ji’nan campus. With all up-to-date facilities, this campus offers a perfect learning environment for as many as 15,000 students.

    Faculties at SIIT are professionals with many years of experience in their academic fields. Professors, associate professors, and scholars from abroad constitute a large part of our teaching body. Besides classroom learning, our faculty are committed to developing the knowledge base of the students through hands-on experience so that students learn professional skills most valued in real world.
